A Molehill or A Mountain
We never think we have enough faith. We might say, “Oh, if I had a little more faith, I know God would do this!” That’s not the way it works. The Scripture tells us we do not need a lot of faith; we only need to use what we have. We only need mustard seed-sized faith.
Have you seen a mountain move? Some may have witnessed an avalanche. But when we think of mountains that need to move, it is usually a great need or a miraculous healing. At times these mountains seem to be insurmountable. What does the Scripture say? “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, ‘With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’ (Matthew 19:26, NKJV). If we truly believed it, we would imagine all our mountains moving.
Think about it. Depending on your faith, so be it. Your mountain might seem like a molehill to someone else. Something that rocked your world might be a normal occurrence to another.
How big is your mountain? Does it matter? Does it matter to God? It could be the size of an anthill, a molehill, or Mount Rushmore. Everyone’s challenges, illnesses, and struggles are different. But God is the same, and He can take care of the anthill as easily as Mount Rushmore. The key ingredient is your faith. Do you believe He can do it? We need to say to ourselves, “Yes, He can!”
How would you describe your faith? You cannot measure your faith by how large a mountain you can move. Remember, mustard seed faith can move an enormous mountain when you believe. Your faith is measured by what you expect and what you believe. Believing God can move the mountain is half the battle. The other half of the battle belongs to God. In other words, pray for it, believe for it, and then go about your day knowing God will eventually do it if it is His will. Trust God, believe He can do it, and expect it to happen!
Debbie Cluster, the Pennsylvania district superintendent’s wife, shared a wonderful testimony with me. For more than twenty years, they prayed for the opportunity to purchase a church building. Here is their testimony:
“After paying excessive rent for years, in January 2022, my husband asked God what he should tell our congregation. The Lord said, ‘Tell them they are making payments on a building that I will give to them.’ On March 7, we will close on a seven thousand five hundred square foot church God gave us. The seller asked for twenty thousand dollars, and a friend paid the full amount!”
God moved a mountain! The church faithfully paid rent until the time was right for God to give them a building. That’s our amazing God doing impossible things. He can do the same for you.
Faith must be expressed in a spirit of expectation. Pray and wait for God’s timing, but act as if it has already happened!
“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” (Ephesians 3:16-20, NKJV)
I believe we can live strengthened with might by His Spirit dwelling in our hearts. We are rooted and grounded in His love, filled with all the fullness of God. Through the Spirit-filled life, God provides the faith we need to deal with every situation, and He surpasses anything we could ask or imagine. Why? Because His power works in us! Let Him live and breathe within you daily, so you have the kind of faith that already expects Him to move when mountains arise.
