I want to offer encouragement to someone. A medicine our child is taking for seizures has a side effect of weight loss. We prayed over her for increased appetite and for her to gain weight. We didn't want to be stressed or worry when she went through the phase of not wanting to eat like she does. Although we wanted Jesus to touch her and heal her without the help of modern medicine, it didn't happen that way.
When we went in for a weight check, she had gained only six ounces this year. Our pediatrician made the call to send her to a pediatric surgeon to have a G-tube placed. We were blind-sided since he hadn't mentioned it before, but we also knew in the back of our minds it was a possibility. Everything happened really fast. We had an appointment with her surgeon the following week and surgery was two weeks later. We are home and doing well!
Our prayers were answered; we received peace of mind. We won't have to worry about her gaining weight, or be completely stressed out when she refuses to eat. Jesus heard our cry and answered our prayers, just not how we wanted them to be answered. With the help of modern medicine, our prayers were answered.
I am here to tell you this: Keep praying. God hears you, and if He gives you an answer that you weren't expecting, but it's the answer to your prayers, praise Him for it. After all, God knows what's best for us!
